Sponsor A Student

Change a child’s life.  Sponsoring a child improves their health as well as their education.  Each refugee orphan receives only one meal a day that they must share with another refugee. When they join the Seeds family, students receive three meals a day, a top-notch education, medical care and nurturing.

Ongoing Cost. The annual financial commitment to sponsor a student is $1,800  per year or $150 a month. This pledge covers tuition, room and board, medical care, uniforms and other essentials, including a mattress!

Evacuation Expense. There are certain up-front costs to bring a South Sudanese orphan from Kakuma, including $200 for uniforms, $250 tuition for the first term and $150 for transportation, a medical exam, school supplies and the registration at Roots Academy.  We ask sponsors to commit to $2,100 for the first year to cover these extra costs.  Students can use their uniforms until they progress to high school.

Share the Cost. We understand that this is a significant sum of money. In addition to Seeds’ individual donors, many children have been sponsored by church Bible study and book groups, school classes, groups of family and friends as well as community groups. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like help putting together a group to collectively sponsor a child’s education and care. It will dramatically change the life of a refugee orphan child who is likely suffering from malnutrition and intestinal diseases!

Choose How You Pay. Sponsors can pay annually, monthly or in quarterly installments through a deduction from your bank (using ACH) or Zelle, if that is available through your bank. On the donate page, you can set up a recurring donation through Helping Habit (giving online), PayPal or Colorado Gives.  All options except direct donations through your bank involve fees. Why Give?

Seeds of South Sudan gives refugee children hope through a quality education and safe living conditions, encouraging them to develop socially, emotionally, and intellectually.

Arok Garang, founder of Seeds of South Sudan, knows personally the importance of an education. As one of the few “Lost Boys of Sudan” who was able to come to America, he is truly dedicated to giving back to his country in hopes of helping South Sudan develop a sustainable and successful future.

Almost 100% of donations go directly to the benefit of the children, as all staff functions are performed by a group of dedicated volunteers and administrative costs are kept to an absolute minimum.

The children are educated in the best schools in Kenya. Upon their graduation our hope is that the children will return to South Sudan to teach new generations of children, therefore becoming the foundation of the country’s future.

Whether you donate a little now, or fully sponsor a child, you will forever give hope to a nation and its children in need.
